Here the latest Wiz:

Seven charged in Operation Inca
Wednesday, 5 September 2018 - 8:16am
National News
Police can now confirm seven people have been charged in relation to Operation Inca — an investigation into alleged race-fixing in the harness racing industry.

A 26-year-old man is due to appear in Christchurch District Court today on charges of deception by match-fixing, possessing Class B drugs for supply, and supplying Class B drugs.

Four men — aged 34, 40, 41 and 44 — are due to appear in Christchurch District Court on Tuesday 12 September on match-fixing charges.

A 41-year-old woman is due to appear the same day on two counts of supplying Class B drugs.

A 47-year-old man has been charged with deception by match-fixing and is due to appear in Palmerston North District Court, also on Tuesday 12 September.

Police yesterday conducted nine search warrants in Christchurch, one in Invercargill and another in Manawatu.

Anyone with information relevant to this investigation is urged to contact harness@police.govt.nz (link sends e-mail) or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Further details are expected later today or tomorrow.

Stuff understands the 26-year-old is trainer and driver Matt Anderson, who is widely regarded as one of harness racing's brightest young prospects.

Four men aged 34, 40, 41 and 44 were due to appear in Christchurch District Court on Tuesday next week on match-fixing charges. Stuff understands the men are Nigel McGrath, John Dunn, Blair Orange and Andrew Stuart.

A 41-year-old woman would appear in court the same day on two counts of supplying Class B drugs. Stuff understands she is champion driver Natalie Rasmussen.

A 47-year-old man, who Stuff understands is Brent Wall, has been charged with deception by match-fixing and is due to appear in Palmerston North District Court, also on Tuesday, police said.

This Opinion piece from Barry Lichter on Sep 05 2018 >>>HERE<<< makes interesting reading.

My own personal conclusions are:-
From milkshaking in the 1990s to Blue Magic in 2004 plus the on-going whispers of 'team racing' one wonders if the Harness Racing players will ever learn that trying to gain an unfair advantage by resorting to illegal means (cheating) will, in the long run, ever bring back the crowds (and their money) to the 'sport?' of Harness Racing.

I think not.

Isn't Brent Wall a galloping man?Used to be a tipster on T.V and in newspapers.

No 80 year olds or Aucklanders charged so all clean and pure up here...I hope.

Later- I see that all names bar one were suppressed at the initial charging. So Stuff will be in legal trouble for naming them all, I presume.

I see that B.Wall was a part owner of the horse, Sportscaster, in the Palmerston North race. Looking at the replay of the race, which Sportscaster won, the running of the race would not have been one to suspect anything untoward as he was the favourite but did loop the field to take the lead, which in itself would have been risky as a breaker or wayward horse in front of him could have interfered with his progress.
I guess we can reach our own conclusions on the various factors which may have been in play.

Has this enquiry died a natural death?

I have not seen an update for months but maybe I missed it.
