Invariably when we watch a Mark Purdon / Natalie Rasmussen trained horse winning another rich event it has a nasal strip attached. It is also noticeable that very few of the beaten horses wear one.

Is this the significant point of difference between them?

Research in the U.S.A a few years ago determined that the application of a nasal strip was instrumental in reducing lung damage and internal bleeding by widening the breathing passage but was not deemed to be performance enhancing as such, but rather a boost to the horse's overall health.

No doubt the item has to be applied precisely to derive the full benefit.

So the challenge is to other trainers who are serious about closing the gap to the All Stars team to give consideration to using the nasal strips.

:horse: :B While humans and dogs pant during intense exercise, horses only breathe through their noses - nasal strips are non-invasive and don't appear to have any side effects ! :B :horse:
