3 last placings in a row does seem rather sad and understandable not to want to see her record tarnished any further.
As my summary shows she has not had an easy introduction back to racing though races have been well spaced for her .
Don't want to push her too far and perhaps end up with more big vet bills, the problem with selling her right now is it's quite likely the buyer will want to race her at least until the next breeding season so question is is it better for her to continue racing under our ownership a little bit longer with the possibility of trying a change of environment and picking her races so things are not too demanding on her.

If she was mine would be crossing the ditch.

She'd have to be on the market, surely. With the exodus of northern intermediates across the ditch, if she stays here there simply wont be any racing for her anyway. And the option of racing full time in the south I wouldn't imagine would pay the bills either.

Will the ATC 2012 syndicate think of breeding from her? Would make a nice broadmare huh?

No- not within the rules and I gather most are only interested in the racing side.

There would be nothing to stop one or more of a group of members getting together to make a bid, should the opportunity arise.

Pity. She is nicely bred. I used to drive her grand dam Soky's belle in track work when trained by Ron Fraser a lovely mare she was.

May have happened if she was mine and not shared with 50 others and binded by rules . Then again if I owned such a well bred mare with such a racing record I would no doubt be happy to retire her ,very likely would make more money breeding from her .
I did want to continue racing her a little longer seeing as the breeding season has just passed and possible the new owners could race her again but was a lonely 1 for that.Maybe if I had been at the meeting I may have been convinced to change my mind but from the other side of the world I found it hard retiring our last horse who was running still some great times albeit not always getting the end results we all wanted.
And maybe not being in another syndicate made me a bit more desperate to try a little longer and explore other avenue's to satisfy my need to be absolutely sure Belle would not come good again.
Whatever winning a decent race in NZ these days does seem to take breaking a NZ record unless luck in the running can play a major part. Also suitable races for her not easy to find as in Auss.
Her getting keen has been a problem so without the right run and tempo in many races things have been stacked against her and also the invisible affects of her injury could well have had some effect on her mentally, that is a hard question to answer I guess.

I see on the HRNZ website Belle is for sale by tender. Any ATC syndicate members looking at getting together and putting in a tender?

Would love to be in a syndicate to buy Belle and breed from her Paulus but have no idea of the costs involved in the breeding business with a broodmare and a lack of pennies in the bank probably rules this out unfortunately.
If the whole syndicate could decide to retain her and form an independant breeding syndicate would be great but I'm not smart enough to bring that to fruition but interested to know if anyone of our syndicate members out there is !.
